REGIONALS- PEACE RIVER AUGUST 10 & 11, 2013

General information:

On August 10th& 11th, 2013 we had 35 swimmers attend the Peace River Swim Meet. It was a swim meet that everyone was anxious about and excited to swim fast. There was some tough competition with all regions bringing their best swimmers to compete.

Swimmer of the Meet:   

Swimmer of the Meet went to Jordon Greber. She swam 100% best times in her prelims and her two finals she swam in. Since Jordon is only 6yrs she had two categories to compete in. She swam in both the 6 and under one and then the 8 & under for provincials. Congratulations Jordon Greber!!

PEACE RIVER SWIM MEET- July 20, 2013

General information:

On July 19, 2013 we had 31 swimmers attend the Peace River Swim Meet. It was exciting to see all the swimmers as eager as they were to swim at this very important meet. This past weekend was like a practice run to get out all the kinks and find some tweaks to help lock in each swimmers best races for regional’s. In approximately three weeks all swimmers wishing to swim at provincials will return to Peace River to swim their hearts out.

B8&U 50 FR Luke McCullough Luke swam hard with constant kicking and fast stroke and he did a great job
G6&U  25 Back Hallie O’Toole Did a good job on her 25 back for her first time racing it!

G11&12 50 Fly Emma Chrenek Emma had an awesome race! Showed her great butterfly technique!

Swimmer of the Meet:   swimmer of the meet goes to Bryn McVittie! She did a phenomenal job in Peace River. She took of three seconds in her 50 butterfly. She also talked to her coaches before and after all of her races.

Concluding Remarks:

Great Job to all the swimmers! Remember that each swim meet is a chance to show off your hard work and to see if you understand what the coaches are teaching you. If there is something that the coaches find to help make you a better swimmer, take it back to practice and work on it so you can be more successful at your next race. Keep working hard, and it will pay off!

HIGH PRAIRIE SWIM MEET-July 6, 2013

General information:

On July 6, 2013 we had 14 swimmers attend the High Prairie meet. Kassidy and Johanna want to send out a huge thank you to Megan for all her assistance at the meet.

GRIMSHAW SWIM MEET July 13, 2013

General Information

14 swimmers from Grande Prairie competed in Grimshaw this past weekend. Despite the cold weather the Aquarians performed excellent and had great team spirit.

The female swimmer of the meet was Jen Chrenek. Jen had three personal best times and was extremely positive and always cheering on her teammates.

The male swimmer of the meet was Owen Hoveland. Owen had one personal best time, and kept a positive attitude and always listened to what his coaches told him.

Concluding Remarks

Although we are over half way through the swim seasons, it was great to see swimmers of all ages and abilities competing and cheering each other on.

High Level Swim Meet-June 22, 2013

General Information

­­­Seven Aquarians made the trip to High Level on Saturday June 22, and it was well worth it. The small but mighty group brought home an abundance of personal bests, ribbons and aggregate medals and had no disqualifications.

Swimmer of the Meet

The female swimmer of the meet was Miranda Hopkins. Miranda set personal bests in all her races, she finished with three first and one second place finish.

The male swimmer of the meet was Cameron Beson. Cameron had great technique in all his races and was a very supportive team mate.

Concluding Remarks

High Level ended with the fun relays, which involved combining age groups and clubs into teams that had to swim the noodle swim, watermelon swim, rubber chicken swim and the torpedo swim.

Hinton Swim Meet-June 22, 2013

General information:

On June 22, 2013, ten of our swimmers travelled to Hinton for a swim meet in region B. Unfortunately, the meet was not outside, as it was a beautiful day. There was an outdoor barbeque which most of the swimmers enjoyed outside during our lunch break. The swimmers earned many best times and gained experience swimming against swimmers outside of their region.

VALLEYVIEW Swim Meet-June 15, 2013

General information:

Saturday, June 15th 29 swimmers attended the meet. It was rainy and cold at the Valley-view outdoor pool.

Swimmer of the Meet:

Boys- Carson Christie and Aiden O’Donovan- both of these swimmers had a great meet, received best times, and were always listening and doing what they were asked.

Girls- Aarika Harpe- Her hard work all season is paying off at swim meets, and she has a really good attitude.

All of the Grande Prairie Aquarians had a great meet this weekend. Although it was difficult to win best times due to the weather conditions, they all had strong swims even through the rain. Congratulations to all the Aquarians who attended the meet on an awesome weekend!

GRANDE PRAIRIE Swim Meet-June 1, 2013

General information:
Fifty-seven of our swimmers hit the water on June 1, 2013, to mark the second meet of the year in Grande Prairie. The Aquarians continued to swim successfully, and although early in the season, many best times were earned. General information:

On June 8, 2013, we had 16 swimmers attend the Fairview Swim Meet.  New pools bring new obstacles; however, the Aquarians were determined to swim their best.

The female swimmer of the meet went to Aarika Harpe. She was ready, talked to her coach before and after each race and was a big team player.  She also performed at her finest with 100% best times

The male swimmer of the meet went to Cody Sorochan.  Cody made sure to speak to his coach before and after his swims. He further took that advice and showed it in the water.

Aquarians should continue to work on their turns, pullouts, finishes, and holding their starts. Reminder to check your stroke counts into the wall at new pools, which should be done during warm-ups. Overall, we had lots of best times. Congratulations!
