Slave Lake Meet Results

We had ten swimmers join us at the Slave Lake Invitational on the past weekend. As tradition continues,
we were in for a show as the Slave Lake Sharks presented themselves in the shark tank. To no disarray,
the Aquarians pushed hard and ended up with several best times.

Memorable Swims:

Micyla took an amazing 20seconds off her 100free, great job! Other Memorable swims include: Allison’s
200FR, Ayden’s 50BK, Julianna’s 25FR, Evageline’s 50FR, Helaina’s 25BR, Mairen’s 50BK, all had best
times and amazing accomplishments.

Swimmer of the Meet:

Ayden Davis was the male swimmer of the meet. He posted 100% best times. This is his second swim
meet ever. He was matched up against others who have been swimming at meets all year. He has really
improved. Great Job Kiddo!

Alison Hunter is the female swimmer of the meet. Her determination and dedication to swimming
enabled her to try out the200FR. It was amazing to watch. She also attempted the 100IM, again so
strong and what a finish. Great Job at coming to get advice from your coach before and after your swims

Overall, great meet. Congratulations to all!

Coach Johanna & Cattie

Peace River Meet Results

Thirty-six Grande Prairie Aquarians took to the water in Peace River for the Porpoises’ annual swim meet and Aquarian coaches were thrilled with the results.

Overall, everyone had a great meet either by achieving best times, accomplishing new goals or completing new challenges.

Many of the swimmers had top 3 finishes in some or all of their races. Emma Chrenek, Bryn McVittie, Aiden O’Donovan, Evangeline Zeyha, Geoffrey Metituk, Jordi Sorochan, Emily Metituk, Hailey McDonald, Owen Hovelend, Tatiana Harpe, Ariane Harpe, Shea Goosney, and Jennifer Chrenek all had a least one first place finish this past weekend. These excellent races contributed to the Grande Prairie Aquarians finished first place overall in Peace River.

Some memorable swims included the 200m freestyle in which Jennifer Chrenek, Veronica Chrenek, and Shea Goosney completed for the first time, and had excellent technique and times. Ayden Davis also shocked coaches as he improved his times overall and had an excellent meet.  Aarika Harpe also had an excellent swim meet as she got 100% best times. Jordy McDonald took off 23 seconds in the 50m backstroke.  Geoffrey Metituk, Ben Hunter, Owen Hoveland, and Skye Goosney all tried out the 800m freestyle for the first time and did fantastic. Emma O’Toole tooke off 11 seconds in the 50m freestyle, and Joaquin Santos took 17 seconds off in the 1000m freestyle event.  Vienna Santos took time off in every event she swam and has improved her technique so much since the beginning of the year.  Tikia Swanson also had a great meet as she improved her time in 3/4 events.

It was a great swim meet and its easy to see that all the hard work in the swimming pool has been paying off as there were very little disqualifications and many best times.

The coaches really appreciate the help from the older swimmers as well as the parents who helped out getting the younger swimmers to their races on time.

Congratulations to all the athletes and the Grande Prairie Aquarians are headed to Slave Lake this weekend as well as 7 athletes are attending the Alberta Summer Games in Lethbridge. Good Luck.

Remember all results are availible online

Valleyview Meet 2012

We had a great swim meet in Valleyview last Saturday. 19 swimmers attended. Although it
started out drizzling it cleared up in the afternoon. All of our swimmers swam well despite
the cold in the morning. There was a bunch of memorable swims but to name a few: Emily’s
100 IM, Alex’s 25 back, Liam’s 100 free, Jordi’s 50 free, Athena’s 100 back, Geoff’s 200 free,
Ben’s 50 back, Veronica’s 50 fly, and Emma’s 50 free among others. The male swimmer of
the meet this time round was Geoff who showed a positive attitude throughout and put in
a great effort in all his races. The female swimmer of the meet went to Allison who again
displayed a positive attitude, took time off on her swims and was a role model for newer
swimmers. As well as, Alex Hansen-Yang. This was Alex’s first outdoor meet and so she
faced the challenge of the cold water and weather. Despite a rough start, Alex swam most of
her races with a smile on her face and with tons of excitement. Congratulations! Overall, the
Aquarians raced well.

Thanks again for a great meet everyone.
