Grande Prairie Invitational Meet

Congratulations to all of our swimmers who competed at our home swim meet! Overall we had 124 personal best times! Nineteen swimmers were competing for their very first time and they all did a fantastic job. I am proud of how much the swimmer’s have improved during the first half of the season. The female swimmer of the meet is Jessie Carlson! She swam great races and had a spectacular attitude the entire day. Jessie consistently shows up for practice ready to swim hard and has a great work ethic. Good work Jessie! The male swimmer of the meet is Blake Thiemann! This was Blake’s first swim meet and he really pushed himself in all of his events. In his 200 Free, Blake persevered eaarning a great time for his first long event! Keep up the awesome swimming Blake!

Alberta Summer Games Zone 8 Trials

On Sunday, June 12, the GP Aquarians and GP Piranhas hosted the Alberta Summer Games Zone 8 Trials. The Aquarians had three swimmer try out, Caitlin McCullough, Colby McCullough and Owen Hoveland. Within two hours the athletes swam four difficult races. Each of these swimmers pushed themselves hard giving great effort in all of their events, even with only minutes of rest between races. Congratulations to Owen for making the Zone 8 team and to Caitlin and Colby for being selected as the first alternate in each of their age groups! Now it is time to look forward to July when the Alberta Summer Games are held in Leduc!

Fairview Olympians Invitational Meet

What a great day of swimming at the Fairview Olympians meet! There were many personal best times; Cody, Lexcee, Reese, Karter and Kaitlyn all set personal bests in each of their races! There were a total of 52 personal best times set by the Aquarians, keep up the great work! This weekends swimmer of the meet is Cody Sorochan! Cody has had a great work ethic this season and has been pushing himself to improve in all strokes. He is swimming out of his comfort zone and has a positive attitude when it comes to his training. Awesome job Cody!

As the meet was off to a slow start and a late finish, we do not have the information for the aggregate winners yet.

We had a very successful meet in Slave Lake this weekend! Sixteen swimmers competed, earning a total of 36 new personal best times! Cody, Colby and Hallie all swam personal bests in every race, great work swimmers! This weekend’s swimmer of the meet is Brooke McCullough! Wow! What a great meet to kick off the season! It was awesome to see all of the attending swimmers back in the water racing their best. I am proud to say each swimmer who attended had at least 3 personal best times, with 8 swimmers getting personal bests in ALL of their events. These positive results reflect the hard work that the swimmers have put into practice the last three weeks. Congrats everyone. The swimmer of the meet is Juliauna Zeyha!
